đĄ What Does a Slimming World Consultant Do?
đī¸ A Week in the Life of Adrian
Your Friendly Neighbourhood Slimming World Consultant
Ever wondered what actually goes on behind the scenes at your Slimming World group? đ¤ Maybe you think I just rock up with a smile and a Slimming World App barcode scanner? đ
Well… let me take you on a little journey through my week – from early starts to tea breaks, data downloads to toast-making… this is what really goes into being a Slimming World Consultant đŧâ¤ī¸
đ Tuesday: Group Day – The Main Event
6.45am – Beep beep! The alarm goes off and I’m up! Showered, dressed in something smart-casual (yes, I have standards đ), and off I go with the essentials: milk đĨ, tea â, raffle prizes đ and a heart full of hope for the day ahead!
I cross the road (yes, it’s literally across the road!) to the Royal British Legion, unlock the gates, pop out the A-frame sign to let the world know “WE’RE OPEN” đǧ, switch on the lights đĄ, and get the heating (or air con!) going depending on Belfast’s unpredictable weather đĻī¸.
đĒ Magic Makers Arrive – AKA My Social Team
Next, my amazing social team arrive like caffeinated superheroes! đϏâī¸đϏâī¸ Curtains are opened, chairs set out in a welcoming horseshoe đĒ, and the tables dressed in bold red and black cloths.
Together, we:
- Set up the Interest Table with seasonal goodies and fun displays đđđˇ
- Brew the tea, prep the toast đ, and fire up the coffee machine â
- Build our beautiful Hi-Fi bar shop 𧹠(like a mini Tesco for slimmers!)
- Put out all the group visuals and boards for awards and celebrations đ
Meanwhile, I’m working on the tech setup – scales, weigh tablet, POS gear, receipt printer, card readers, Pay Tablet, new member forms, Countdown books… it’s a full IT department in action! đĨī¸đŗđą
At the front of the room I prep my host table with news posters, offers, magazines, raffles, and announcements – everything to inspire and inform đŦ
đļ Let’s Get This Party Started!
Weigh-in opens at 9am sharp (after a friendly warning roar from me at 8:55 đ). Music on đĩ, the energy builds, and the queue starts forming down the building đļâī¸đļâī¸
We see 90+ members in 30 minutes – weighed, welcomed, shopped, toasted, and seated. And then… it’s time for Image Therapy đ. At 9.30am on the button I shout out 'Good morning everyone . . . . '
This 40-minute group session is everything – motivation, celebration, education, a few giggles, and maybe even a tear or two. It’s the heartbeat of Slimming World, and I’m proud to lead it đŦđ
đ Morning Ends – Onto Job #2
After the buzz of group, I lock up and head home – straight into my second role as a Lead Data Governance Manager for the Education Authority đ§đģ. (Yes, I wear many hats đŠ)
Lunchtime means I’m back on the Slimming World laptop – sending out “missed you at group” messages, check-ins, reminders, and a little bit of motivation for the evening group ahead đ˛
đ Back at It – The Evening Sessions
At 4pm, it all begins again – heat on, music on, doors open at 5pm and again at 6:30pm. Another 120+ members through the doors, each getting the care and attention they deserve đĢļ
Group wraps up around 7.40pm, and then the social team and I get stuck into the big tidy-up:
- Coffee machine cleaned đ§Ŋ
- Shop packed away đ
- Tables wiped, tech shut down đģ
- Data uploaded to head office (Franchise accounts â )
8.30pm – I’m home, feet off the ground, toast in one hand and tea in the other đĢđ
(No offence meant, but you’re a noisy bunch and I need a wee bit of peace after all that love and laughter! đ)
đē Corrie, Catch-Ups & Card Readers
While I unwind with Coronation Street (don’t judge me đ ), I’m still multitasking:
- Sending welcome texts to new members đą
- Logging people into the app đ
- Prepping new stock orders đĻ
- Checking who missed evening group đĩī¸
đī¸ The Rest of the Week – Behind-the-Scenes
- Wednesday–Friday: I’m back full-time in my EA job, but I check in with members every evening đŦ
- Thursday/Friday: Stock arrives, orders are checked, raffle prizes hunted đī¸
- Weekend: I prep my visuals, check the SW bulletin, create news items, label Countdown books đ
- Sunday: I sort stock, prep my raffle prizes, tidy the SW cupboard and top up my admin bag đ
- Monday night: Tablets charged, systems synced, everything packed and ready to go again! âĄ
â¤ī¸ Why I Do It
It’s busy. It’s full-on. It’s structured chaos at times. But it’s one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done đ
To see a person light up when they hit a milestone… to help someone feel better in their own skin… to know that a cup of tea and a kind word made someone’s day just a little bit better – that’s why I do this.
Thank you to all my wonderful members, my rockstar social team, and everyone who makes this job the joy it is â¨
