Missing Group – The Silent Saboteur
Missing Group – The Silent Saboteur
By Adrian and from the heart π
Let’s talk about something we all experience at some point on our journey: missing group.
Now I know life is full of surprises – the school run from chaos, the unexpected work shift, the “I’m just not feeling up to it” kind of day. And of course, there are genuinely unavoidable times – like when you’re off sunning yourself in Spain, sipping something sparkling by the pool (jealous, by the way π). Those moments? Absolutely fine.
But what about the other times? The ones where you’re still in the country, still mobile, but… maybe just finding reasons not to come? This isn’t me pointing fingers – this is me holding up a mirror, because I’ve been there. I’ve told myself those very same excuses. I’ve said things like:
π£ “One little week won’t matter…”
π£ “I’ll go next week and pull it back…”
π£ “I’ll just avoid the scales until I feel better…”
But here’s the truth bomb π£—missing group matters.
Attending group every single week is the number one thing that makes a difference to weight loss success. When you’re flying and feeling fab, come to group. When you’re struggling and feeling stuck, especially come to group. You need to be at group.
Our research backs this up – members who attend group each week are far more likely to reach their target and stay there. One study showed that people who attend at least 75% of groups lose twice as much weight as those who attend less. TWICE! That’s not a nudge; that’s a flashing neon sign π¨.
I know what really happens when you miss a week (this was me!) . . . . . That little demon voice creeps in:
π “Well I’ve got 13 days ‘til I weigh again… I’ll have a little treat tonight… maybe tomorrow too… I’ll fix it before next week.”
Fast forward a few days, and suddenly you’re 8 packets of crisps deep, convinced your scales are broken, and wondering how you’ll ever face the music (and me π ). Then the guilt kicks in, the spiral continues, and what started as just one missed week becomes a full-on detour off track.
And here’s the worst bit – when you finally do come back, you might not even stay to group because you’re feeling embarrassed, and then the cycle repeats. That’s self-sabotage at its sneakiest.
But imagine instead…
You pop to another group midweek, even if it’s not your usual one. You face the scales, take a deep breath, and feel that powerful feeling of being in control. πͺ You stay for Image Therapy, get inspired, laugh, maybe even cry, and walk away ready to start a fresh week on plan. THAT is what group gives you.
Yes, there’s a small backfee for missing group without booking a holiday – not because we’re trying to catch you out, but because the real value is in being there. Don’t pay to miss group. Pay to get weighed, be supported, and stay focused. That’s the magic.
So if you’ve missed a week recently, this is your gentle nudge – from someone who cares deeply – to get back in the room. β€οΈ I might message you to say I missed you, not to guilt-trip you, but because I know how important this is.
You want to lose weight. I want that for you too. Let’s do it together – week by week, weigh by weigh.
See you at group?
Love,
Adrian π
P.S. Your chair misses you too – and so does the Slimmer of the Week basket π
